About
Founded and led by Marika Kielland Bourgine, KEY ART specialises in sourcing and acquiring significant works of art from both established and emerging artists. Partnering with our clients to build world-class art collections, we range from managing a major Museum Trustee's collection of close to one thousand artworks, to spending time educating newcomers to the art world and giving an understanding of the ecosystem we work within. With all our clients, experts or novices, we dig into the psychology of their tastes, what they would love to collect and why.
Leveraging deep relationships across galleries, museums, and auction houses, along with expert knowledge of the art market, KEY ART focuses on enhancing the long-term value of its clients’ collections. The firm provides strategic guidance on acquisitions from galleries, artist studios, private collections, and auctions, both domestically and internationally.
KEY ART also supports clients seeking deeper engagement with the art world by advising on participation in museum boards, nonprofit organisations, and foundation committees, offering a pathway to meaningful involvement in the cultural ecosystem.
Collecting art is both an aesthetic pursuit and a strategic form of asset allocation. KEY ART educates collectors on evaluating artworks prior to acquisition and tracks the market performance of relevant artists in both public and private contexts.
Stewardship of an art collection requires thoughtful care, and KEY ART offers comprehensive support for the ongoing management of artworks. This includes archiving, documentation, shipping, insurance, storage, framing, installation, and conservation. The team also oversees institutional loans, charitable donations, and private sales or deaccessions.
